Activate your tag before installing it on your pet's collar. A nonactivated tag will not function in the event that your pet is lost.
Quick Steps:
- Use your smartphone to scan the tag's QR code to activate it.
- Login or create a free Hitail account.
- Complete the pet and owner information.
- Once activated and fully setup, do a test scan to confirm it's working and your pet's profile is setup correctly.
- Install the pet tag onto your pet's collar.
Detailed Steps:
- Using the camera on your smartphone, scan the QR code on the back of the tag. The first time you scan the tag, you will be taken to our easy tag activation process. After you complete the initial activation, future scans of the tag will load your pet's online profile page and function normally in helping connect you with the person who finds your lost pet.
- Login or create a new Hitail account by entering your email address and password. Click the "Create Account" button if you don't have an existing account or "Login" if you already have an account.
- If you don't have an account already, fill in your first and last name and click "Create Account".
- Fill in your pet's information including: Name, type, gender, birth date, behavior, health, veterinarian, and photo. Many fields are optional, so fill in only what you're comfortable with. Click "Continue" when complete.
- Fill in your owner contact information. You may add as many contacts as you would like. This includes name, email address, phone number, notes and address (optional). Click "Continue" when complete.
- Your pet profile has now been created and your tag is active. In the Manage Your Pets page, you can click on your pet's name to add, edit, or delete pet info, owner info and activated tags.
- Now scan your tag's QR code again and confirm it correctly brings up your pet's profile information and all pet and owner information is correct. This is the website a finder of your lost pet will see.
- Now install the pet tag onto your pet's collar. Using your fingernail, spread apart the metal ring on the tag.
- Take your pet's collar and insert the metal ring on the collar into the gap between the metal ring that you just spread apart on the tag.
- Rotate the metal ring on the tag until the metal ring on the collar is fully inside the metal ring on the tab.
- As you rotate the metal ring on the tag, make sure that you reinsert the end of the metal ring back inside the opening on the inside of the silicone tag. You don't want part of the metal ring to be on the outside of the tag.
- Make sure the design side of the tag is facing outward and the QR side is on the back when installed.
