What if my tag's QR code won't scan?

What if I am unable to scan the QR code?
If you are unable to successfully scan the QR code on the back of your tag, try these easy tips:

  • Verify that the smartphone you are using automatically recognizes QR codes using the phone's default camera.
  • Try a different smartphone that is compatible with QR code scanning, to ensure the issue is with the tag and not the phone.
  • If your smartphone doesn't recognize QR codes, try using a free 3rd party QR code scanning app, such as:
  • Make sure the QR code is clean and undamaged, including no scratches or missing elements of the code.
  • Ensure there is adequate lighting to properly illuminate the QR code so your camera can recognize it.

If you still are unable to scan the QR code, please contact us for additional help or to get a warranty replacement.

If for any reason you are unable to scan the QR code, you can also use the website address printed below the QR code and visit the pet profile page manually. Simply type in the address from the tag in your favorite web browser. An example format would be www.hitail.us/AAAAAA. Please note the domain of the pet profile URL is www.hitail.us not www.hitail.co and it should end with six unique alphanumerical characters.
